A hike to Carruthers Couloir:
From Charlottes Pass in Kosciuzsko National Park, it's an easy walk to Club Lake.

Club Lake Creek is beautiful at this time of year.
The approach leads up several morains from the last ice age.
Hiking up the central morain leads to this spectacular view of Club Lake and Carruthers Couloir.
Later in the season this is the playground of extreme skiers .
Who would have thought such a place could be found in Australia.
My route out of this valley will involve cramponing up one of these ice tongues .
This is the earliest in the season that I have ever used crampons.
This is not Austria!
