Late Spring views of Kosciuzsko and Cootapatamba:
The weather had been poor. This was the first view of anything for over an hour.

The clouds clear above Swampy Plain Creek. You can also see Cootapatamba hut and skiers.

The edge of the Main Range plateau is clearly visible.

South ridge of Kosciuzsko. At its base is Lake Cootapatamba - still frozen.
Cootapatamba means "the lake where the eagles drink". In this case the eagles are either the Nankeen Kestrel or the Windover.
Lake Cootapatamba is too high (2050m) for Wedge Tail eagles.

A close up of the Kosciuzsko South Ridge. This corniced ridge is called the Cootapatamba Drift.

Kosciuzsko (2228m) and Rawsons Pass.

I'm out of here!
Round trip from Cascade Creek carpark is about 13km.
